Nitrogen pollution is a serious and growing environmental issue, with wide-ranging impacts on air quality, water systems, and ecosystems. Developing solutions to reduce nitrogen in the environment remains at the heart of our work.
The UK Parliament’s Environment and Climate Change Committee published its report following its inquiry into Nitrogen. We are proud that our written evidence was accepted and published as part of the inquiry, and delighted that our contribution was cited several times in the final document.
This recognition is an excellent outcome for our ongoing research. Our work on filters to trap ammonia gas from agricultural waste funded by DEFRA through our venture. In parallel, our current Lincam grant from the Ceres Agri-Tech Knowledge Exchange Partnership is supporting new advances in nitrate and ammonium removal from agricultural run-off.
Together, these projects show how targeted technical innovations can help reduce nitrogen pollution and protect both the environment and public health.
