Guzman is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Lincoln, where he has been working since 2016. It is here that he met ESE’s founder Jose, and they began collaborating on numerous papers and projects throughout the years.

When setting up ESE, Jose asked Guzman for support, which he was all too happy to provide. For Guzman it felt natural that they would continue to work together on this venture and so he has been providing Jose with support and advice since the beginning of ESE.

Guzman began his education in Spain, obtaining degrees in Chemistry and a PhD in Supramolecular Chemistry. He then moved to the UK to undertake post-Doctoral positions at both the University of Oxford and the University of Manchester before joining the University of Lincoln as a lecturer.

While he has always been interested in science, Guzman has recently found a passion for environmentalism, an interest that is well utilised with ESE.

Speaking of his goals for the future, Guzman said,

“I would love for ESE to gain further recognition for its research and the work that it does to improve the environment.

In addition to this, I would like to develop a stronger relationship with industries, such as local SMEs, and use my research to improve and assist them.”

Guzman describes ESE as a family and explains that it is very easy to work with the team and to share ideas with them. He feels that it is an incredibly collaborative and supportive environment to work in, and one he feels proud to be a part of.
