Samantha is an associate researcher at ESE, a role she undertakes alongside her PhD in the development of novel wound care treatment.

Samantha met ESE founder, Jose Gonzalez-Rodriguez, whilst studying under him for her Masters of Chemistry degree, and later joined ESE in 2022 after she had started her PhD. Previously to ESE she has worked for different formulation companies, including Energetics Technology Ltd and Biorenewables Development Centre.

Having always been interested in the greener side of chemistry, Samantha is committed to creating a more sustainable world for us to live in. She was persuaded to get involved in molecularly imprinted polymer work by Jose and has not looked back since!

At ESE Samantha is involved in numerous areas, from creating MIPs, to formulations and computer modelling. She began working there in order to complete lab work from a previous PhD student and has continued to develop and grow under the leadership of Jose.

When asked about her favourite part of working for ESE, Samantha said:

“The collaborative atmosphere created by Jose and the team has allowed me to develop further as a chemist. Everyone is encouraged to share their opinions and ideas and to utilise their own personal strengths.”

When she isn’t researching for ESE or writing thousands of words in order to finish her PhD, Samantha can be found spending time with her adorable red Labrador, Teddy.
